District 9 – Nimba County: A Better Life
Women and youth make up the backbone of District 9, yet their potential is often left unrealized. Women entrepreneurs face barriers to credit, training, and markets, while young people struggle with limited job opportunities and little access to entrepreneurship support. Without targeted interventions, many remain underemployed or excluded from economic participation.
At the same time, sports and cultural platforms — powerful tools for unity, leadership, and talent development —remain underfunded, leaving young energy and creativity untapped.
We are unlocking the potential of women and youth by building pathways for independence, leadership, and opportunity. Our approach focuses on three interconnected areas:
Expand access to microloans, strengthen savings groups, and provide training so women can grow small businesses, support their families, and become financially independent.
Equip young people with entrepreneurship opportunities, leadership training, and marketable skills to help them create jobs and shape their futures.
Develop sports infrastructure (soccer fields, courts) and promote cultural activities that provide safe outlets, foster community pride, and build confidence in youth.
While we are still in the early stages of building comprehensive empowerment programs, we have made important progress that demonstrates both need and potential:
Initiated partnerships with organizations that support women and youth through training, financial access, and mentorship.
Supported more than 500 women through microfinance initiatives, many of whom are already expanding their businesses and improving household stability.
Launched a district-wide soccer league for both men and women, creating a vibrant outlet for youth, building unity across towns, and showcasing athletic talent. Also supported the District 9 Football team in the Nimba County District League.
Fund microloans, support women’s cooperatives, or sponsor youth empowerment initiatives.
Partner with us to deliver sports-for-development programs, entrepreneurship training, or women’s leadership initiatives.
Support small businesses, community-based enterprises, and entrepreneurship hubs that can scale impact across District 9.
