District 9 – Nimba County: A Better Life
True transformation requires not only development projects, but also strong and accountable leadership, trust, and innovation. In District 9, this is what we are building. It has not always been the case. The challenge has been that many citizens lack access to civic education, leaving them unaware of their rights, responsibilities, and pathways to hold leaders accountable. Local leaders and institutions often lack the training and resources to govern effectively, which weakens accountability and decision-making. Young people — the future leaders of the district — rarely have opportunities to build governance skills or to engage meaningfully in shaping policy.
At the national level, lawmakers face a dual responsibility: to legislate laws that empower citizens, to exercise oversight over government institutions, and to represent communities in ways that directly respond to their needs. Yet without stronger systems of governance at both the national and local levels, progress risks being fragmented and unsustainable.
Advancing legislation that empowers citizens, such as student loan access; strengthening oversight to ensure government resources are used effectively; and practicing inclusive representation by keeping District 9 voices at the center of policymaking. Transparency and accountability remain our guiding principles.
